So, you know that you need to delegate, but where do you start? It’s one thing to know that you need help, but knowing where to start can present another dilemma. However, it’s wise to have a plan of action, because having a plan increases your chances of success. Here are three things that you can do to help you get off to a great start of knowing what to delegate.
First, you should determine what type of support you need. Most people begin by bringing on an assistant, and this is my recommendation. You then need to decide if the person will be remote or onsite, an executive virtual assistant, or an employee.
Next, think about the culture of your business and the personality type that will fit well within it. Many people immediately think about skillset, and that’s important too, but you want an assistant that will be a good fit for your work style as well.
Lastly, figure out what you would like to hand off and have your assistant do for you. I’ve addressed this before, but think of all areas of your business – operations, finances, customer service, marketing, and sales. Think about where you want to put your focus and delegate the rest.
