There’s something floating out there in the business world that can sound like a good idea, but if you stop to think about it, it may not be such a great idea afterall.
I’ve heard from a few entrepreneurs that they set aside one day per week to only work on all of their administrative work. I find this a bit perplexing because this isn’t the best use of their time. As the leader of your company, you should only spend your time on the areas of your business where you excel and bring the most value and strategic thinking.
Instead of having an “admin day,” use that day to continue to make money for your business. That one day over each week, month, and year can mean thousands, maybe even hundreds of thousands of dollars to your bottom line. You can eliminate the day that you set aside to work on administrative tasks by delegating those things to an executive virtual assistant. Be sure to calculate the costs – make sure that your hourly rate is higher than what you would pay someone else to do the work for you.
Don’t fool yourself into thinking that you’re saving money by doing everything yourself. Let go and reap the financial benefits of delegating.
