I am, without question, getting to more of the urgent, important things than I ever have before.
Issue:
Not enough time in the day, and the analogy I give is, I’m a huge Lucille Ball fan. There’s an episode of I Love Lucy where she and Ethel get a job, and Ricky and Fred are staying home. They get a job at this candy factory and they’re trying to fake it till they make it. They mess up everywhere else and now they’re working in this conveyor belt. They’re supposed to wrap the candy and it’s coming out pretty fast, and they’re wrapping and they’re missing one or two. They’re hiding it everywhere, and the supervisor comes in and says, “Oh, look, you’re doing great.” Meanwhile, candy is in their hats, mouths, and clothes. The manager yells to the foreman in the back, “Speed her up,” and then the candy’s flying everywhere.
I was at the point of sheer chaos, and it wasn’t just the broken pieces that weren’t getting attention. The big stuff was literally getting past me because the conveyor belt was going too fast; it was too much on the conveyor belt. As I told you before, I resisted getting an assistant because I just saw that as another job of having to train an assistant and welcome them into my chaos. It was the rest of the executive team that said, we’re doing an intervention, you need help. I had, fortunately, met Tonya at an event, and she impressed me. The things that she said, I was just in awe of and kept her name, and Team Delegate was the first company that we called.
Why Team Delegate?
I have used other agencies in the past. We’ve used the global folks, we’ve used the small folks, and quite frankly, nobody’s really ever knocked my socks off. I happened to meet Tonya, and she was different, and I knew that the company was different, and her approach was different. So, I wrote myself a note that said don’t lose this information and stay in touch with Tonya. That’s why I chose Team Delegate, and you all were the first ones that I called. I did not need to go elsewhere.
Experience/Process of Working with Team Delegate:
Beyond my expectations. Far exceeding expectations. If you had one of those little scales and far exceeds is on it, I’d be way out there on the scale. It was unbelievably seamless. Your process of analyzing the client, analyzing the candidate, and making the match, is unique. I’ve never seen it in the industry, and I am a case in point that it works.
Impact of Working with Team Delegate:
I am, without question, getting to more of the urgent, and important things than I ever have before. I can be a better CEO because I’m now aiming. My executive virtual assistant organizes me. I can’t take credit for the infrastructure that she has put in place.
I told her what my problem was, which is that I have a crazy volume of emails, and she took the initiative to analyze what was going on with my email. We now have a system that she created, where I have an urgent and needs immediate attention folder. That’s the first place that I go, instead of going into an inbox that has 500 emails. I literally, no joke, get a hundred emails an hour, if not more. When she first started, 104,000 unopened emails populated into her bin from my inbox. She processes reads them all, organizes them, and extracts the important ones. I’m now answering mission-critical emails from three weeks ago, or from before she started, that I never even saw.
Results of Working with Team Delegate:
We are in a very exciting growth stage of our company. We are executing a strategic plan that we’ve been working on for two years, and we’ve got a lot of initiatives going on right now. It’s allowing me to focus on that instead of scheduling meetings, responding to a teacher’s email about my forgetting a permission slip, and things like that. I’m able to focus on these bigger, more strategic initiatives.
